When items are sterilized unprotected they soon will be contaminated again by the particles in the air. Usually sterile goods are stored for quite some time before they are used, and moreover they are transported through the hospital to the place they are to be used. Therefore the products must be sterilized inside a packaging in order to prevent contamination after sterilization.
